Lily began painting in the early 1980s , winning the Northern Territory art Award in 1986, and the General painting category at the 20th NATSIAA Telstra awards in 2003. Lily paints her story , Tali, meaning Sand hills in her country near Kintore.

Her paintings often deplict the winds moving the sand in the desert. Lily's works are very detailed using tiny pin dots creating a sandy desert landscape. Her art works are highly sought after by collectors and Galleries worldwide.
